Big Mountain Performance; Big Savings
Just like it’s big brother, the Dynafit Vulcan, the Mercury boot drives big skis down big lines and helps you stomp all of your landings. But, instead of a Carbon fiber cuff, the Mercury is made with grilamid, fiberglass, and pebax. These materials cut about $200 off of the price tag and add a few grams to the boot. Still, the Mercury is plenty light for blazing fast ascents, while performing like a champ on the way down.
With a 102mm last and weighing in at just over 3 and a half pounds per boot, it’s easy to forget that these boots are even on your feet. By opening the innovative cuff buckle, the boot is switched into walk mode, unlocking a 60 degree range of cuff motion. Pull out the removable tongue for even easier movement. Dynafit has you covered on more technical ascents too; the Pro Freeride sole features three different rubber compounds to provide grip in areas that need it as well as consistent releasability.
As easy as touring in these boots is, they truly shine on the downhill. Slide in the tongue, pull the cuff buckle and these boots are ready to rip. The fiberglass cuff and shell bump stops provide loads of stiffness for instant feedback and precise edge control. Unlike some other AT boots, the cuff on the Mercury comes up high, so you will have no trouble stomping every landing. Want all of the lateral control without a super stiff boot? Remove the optional downhill tongue to dial in the flex to your preference.
