We are not a mom and pop shop. Rather, we are a brother and sister shop that opened up its doors back in 1994. Many of our first customers have become lifelong friends, not to mention, climbing and skiing partners. Back in 1994, Greg, me (Kristi) and a childhood friend made up our employee roster. Today, our spouses (Alex and Debra) have joined in the management of the business and we have an employee list numbering almost fifty including our employees at Golden Bike Shop, just down the street.
Bent Gate Mountaineering is a place that believes in Community and thrives on promoting fun and safety in the outdoors. Our goal is to sell the gear that has the best chance of improving your outdoor experience. Whether you are a bad-ass tele-skier or a newbie rock climber, you will feel welcome in our shop, as our staff will listen to you and then give you several options. We are a group of users and choose gear that we enjoy using or that we know our customers will enjoy.
We are a destination shop and we carry many specialty brands that you can’t find just anywhere. In our opinion, we have the best ski collection around. We love to ski, which is obvious from our staff, our ski selection, our ski promotions and our demo program. We believe that it’s a whole lot easier to find a ski that you personally like when you get to try that ski out ahead of purchasing it. Telemark, Randonnee or Alpine . . . we love it all.
We are passionate about climbing and this is evident from the wide selection of gear that we carry and from the many AMGA guides that we employ. Whether you love to climb fourteeners, sport climb, boulder or go on adventures in alpine environments, come on into Bent Gate and we will help you find the perfect gear and give you suggestions on a great place to climb. At Bent Gate Mountaineering, we strive to get up high as often as we can.
In the end, WE are Bent Gate Mountaineering – Greg and me, Alex and Deb, our amazing family of employees and our customers and friends who have developed into our community over the last eighteen years. We hope to earn and keep your business and that our paths might cross on a powder day or on top of a big mountain.
