Designed for heavy duty use in all conditions, the Saivo is extremely robust, easy to pitch, and roomy. It’s ideal for sea kayakers, for base camp use by mountaineers, or as a spacious shelter for backcountry walkers. Indeed, the Saivo has won several awards in competition with other, more established models. Thanks to its construction, the Saivo can withstand even the fiercest weather and heaviest snow loads. Its four poles cross each other seven times, creating an amazingly strong structure, yet its innovative short pole sleeve and clip system design makes set up a snap. Best of all, it can be easily pitched by a single person: Take the tent out of its stuff bag and peg it down at the corners. Then simply slide each pole’s ends into the short pole sleeves at the base of the tent, and connect the clips on the tent to the pole structure. If the weather is especially windy, peg out the guy lines. Space and access are the Saivo’s forte. While it is a roomy three person tent, it’s a veritable palace for two, and both of its vestibules are big enough for two backpacks each. The outer tent entrances are asymmetrical, so they can be opened from the side or the end, depending on the weather, and in high winds, a hook and ring closure on each entrance prevents the zippers from being forced open. Large adjustable vents high up on the sides of the Saivo allow superb air flow, and by opening the tops of the outer tent entrances, you can create cross ventilation without letting in rain. The vents are protected from the rain by a large roof cover, which can also be secured with guy lines, providing additional stability in truly wild weather. No wonder the German magazine Outdoor named the Saivo “Outstanding” when compared to similar tents on the world market! Saivo means “holy lake” in Sami.
