Product description
Intuitive, compact avalanche transceiver with voice navigation for fast, targeted searches
BUILT ON 45 YEARS OF PIONEERING SAFETY
Featuring patented¹ voice navigation, FOCUS VOICE is uncompromisingly simple and powerful — redefining avalanche safety for beginners and backcountry enthusiasts alike. Offering one of the largest search-strip widths on the market at 80m, the avalanche transceiver provides optimal conditions for fast, efficient searching even under the most challenging conditions. Integrated voice navigation provides maximum support: Clear announcements in every search phase provide calm and clarity when every second counts.
MAXIMUM SUPPORT
The patented¹ voice navigation provides clear instructions during each search phase, ensuring calm and clarity. A study² shows that it can reduce stress and search times. The display is stable from first reception. The largest MIP display currently on the market shows you all information in the highest quality and ensures optimal legibility.
MAXIMUM PERFORMANCE
A search-strip width of 80m³ makes the FOCUS VOICE one of the most powerful avalanche transceivers on the market. The search-strip width actually extends to 90m when searching using ORTOVOX avalanche transceivers with Smart Antenna Technology. The greater the reach, the shorter the search path on the avalanche field, allowing the signal from the buried victim to be detected more quickly.
MAXIMUM PROTECTION
The patented⁴ Smart Antenna Technology analyzes the device’s location in the avalanche and automatically switches to the best transmitting antenna. The result: Up to twice the reach — and a higher probability that you will be found in the first search run. Interference protection enables FOCUS VOICE to automatically adapt to electronic interference sources in search and transmit mode, ensuring stable signal transmission.
Patented voice navigation
The patented voice navigation system gives you clear voice prompts at every stage of the search and complements the on-screen instructions. It allows you to keep your eyes on the avalanche deposit zone and fully concentrate on the search. A study shows that voice navigation can help reduce mental strain and stress, thereby shortening the search time.
Reach
With a search strip width of 80 m, the Focus Voice is one of the most powerful avalanche transceivers on the market. If the search object is an ORTOVOX avalanche transceiver with Smart Antenna Technology, the width of the search strip expands to as much as 90 m. The search strip width refers to the individual section covered when you systematically search the avalanche field. The larger it is, the shorter the search path needed to cover an area completely. This enables you to pick up an avalanche victim’s signal faster and save valuable time.
Patented Smart Antenna Technology
The patented¹ Smart Antenna Technology recognizes the device’s position in the avalanche and automatically selects the antenna with the best signal transmission. This compensates for unfavorable transmission positions, resulting in as much as double the reach, depending on the device's position. An unfavorable transmission position is brought about by the avalanche transceiver being located in the avalanche at such an angle that its antenna does not optimally transmit its signal toward the searcher. If the avalanche transceiver is in a vertical position, the signal is primarily transmitted upward and downward. Transmission in the direction of the searcher is consequently weaker and the reach is reduced. The Smart Antenna Technology recognizes the device's position and automatically switches to the optimum antenna. The technology works regardless of the type or brand of avalanche transceiver being used to search for you. This increases the likelihood that your signal will be received during the first search pass and that you will be found more quickly.
Interference Protection
Electronic devices nearby can interfere with the transmission and search functions of an avalanche transceiver. Interference Protection detects the influence of interference on the avalanche transceiver and responds accordingly. Keep a distance of at least 20 cm from electronic devices and magnetic and metallic objects when in transmit mode and at least 50 cm when in search mode.
Full-graphic MIP display
The 2.7-inch full-graphic memory-in-pixel (MIP) display is the largest MIP display currently on the market. The 400 × 240-pixel resolution and high contrast ensure a clear picture and good readability, even in direct sunlight. The fully graphic user interface adapts the display to the respective search phase and presents the relevant information in a clearly structured manner. This enables you to maintain an overview at all times while you search.
