End the compromise between uphill efficiency and downhill performance or finally own the one setup for inbounds and backcountry skiing with the Shift. A simple lever on the toe piece easily transforms the alpine style toe piece to reveal two tucked away pins for touring. When it’s time to descend, flip the lever back and you have an alpine binding complete with a 6-13 din and 47mm of elastic travel.
The Multi Norm Certification means that the S/Lab Shift will work with any adult boot norm, so compatibility is simple as long as your AT boots are stamped. Additionally, you can ski (descent mode only) the S/Lab Shift MNC with your full on Alpine boots if you want to switch back and forth, so the Shift is a perfect binding for traveling with one pair of skis for resort and backcountry days.
Salomon’s heel riser is simple but effective with a 10 degree rise position in addition to the 2 degree (flat) mode. Fixing the riser to the base of the binding rather than the heel piece eliminates the squishy feeling while touring that can be felt in other bindings. Carbon-infused plastics keep the Shift relatively lightweight at 850g per binding and keep the binding very rigid for an efficient tour mode.
