These ski bindings are the same as the Atomic Shifts but with different colors and branding!
The new S/LAB SHIFT MNC 13 binding ushers in the next generation of freeride capability, blending the touring efficiency of a pin (low-tech) binding, with the performance of an alpine freeride binding. For skiers who like to push the boundaries of the mountain and their skiing, SHIFT to the first ever truly compromise-free binding.
Shift's long toe-wings absorb maximum shock, with 47mm of elastic travel, while delivering improved energy transfer and efficiency.
SHIFT offers a PIN toe design and full heel rotation for efficient touring. A convenient switch between ski and tour modes make it easy to get to untracked lines.
Made with a new material, Carbon-infused PA, combined with aluminum and steel, S/LAB SHIFT MNC 13 is light yet strong, at 1.7kg / pair.

End the compromise between uphill efficiency and downhill performance or finally own the one setup for inbounds and backcountry skiing with the Shift. A simple lever on the toe piece easily transforms the alpine style toe piece to reveal two tucked away pins for touring. When it’s time to descend, flip the lever back and you have an alpine binding complete with a 6-13 din and 47mm of elastic travel.
The Multi Norm Certification means that the S/Lab Shift will work with any adult boot norm, so compatibility is simple as long as your AT boots are stamped. Additionally, you can ski (descent mode only) the S/Lab Shift MNC with your full on Alpine boots if you want to switch back and forth, so the Shift is a perfect binding for traveling with one pair of skis for resort and backcountry days.
Salomon’s heel riser is simple but effective with a 10 degree rise position in addition to the 2 degree (flat) mode. Fixing the riser to the base of the binding rather than the heel piece eliminates the squishy feeling while touring that can be felt in other bindings. Carbon-infused plastics keep the Shift relatively lightweight at 850g per binding and keep the binding very rigid for an efficient tour mode.
We were lucky enough to put a pair of the S/Lab Shift MNC 13s to the test last season on a pair of QST 106s and had a blast accessing any terrain and skiing with the confidence of an alpine binding. Read more about our experience with the Shift on our blog.
